Private Equity Real Estate (“PERE”) consist on investing in real estate assets with potential to generate value through an active asset management strategy (i.e. repositioning or extensive redevelopment of the asset, leasing management, platform creation, etc.). The investment strategy of PERE funds varies depending on the different stages of the real estate cycle being the basic principle the generation of “alpha” through a value-generation strategy of investments.

Real Estate is one of the alternative investment strategies, and has become a key asset class in the asset allocation and portfolio construction activities of institutional investors. Some factors that have led to this increased allocation to real estate are its diversification effect due to the low correlation shown versus other financial assets, its capacity to generate compelling returns through different market cycles, its ability to generate yield and its protection against inflation.
